Hot Pressurized Liquid Extraction of Polyphenols from the Skin and Seeds of Vitis vinifera L. cv. Negra Criolla Pomace a Peruvian Native Pisco Industry Waste

The pisco industry in Peru generates large amounts of grape pomace, which is a natural source bioactive compounds with potential nutraceutical applications. Hot pressurized liquid extraction (HPLE) water-ethanol solvent mixtures (20–60%) at high temperatures (100–160 °C) was applied to recover polyphenols from the skin and seeds Peruvian pisco-industry grape-pomace waste. At same HPLE conditions (60% ethanol, 160 °C), seed fraction extracts contained ~6 times more total polyphenol presented ~5 antioxidant activity than extract fraction. lowest ethanol concentration (20%) highest temperature (160 achieved recovery flavanols 163.61 µg/g dw 10.37 skins. phenolic acids maximized 45.34 6.93 Flavonols were only recovered skin, (17.53 dw) 20% temperature. specific conditions. These are for extractions. This alternative method can be used other agroindustrial wastes order applications pharmaceutical food industry.
